Why We’re THIS Excited About The 2015 Search Engine Land Awards

Discover what's up in the business of marketing each Friday.

stage lights audience hands up ss 1920The theme for the inaugural Search Engine Land Awards, Celebrate The Power Of Search, is appropriate for the obvious reason: we're recognizing successful search marketing strategies implemented by individuals, agencies and internal marketing teams.

The awards ceremony will take place during a very special evening awards celebration in New York City, September 30, and we're making this year's After Dark Event @SMX our biggest and best yet. You won't want to miss it!

On top of that, the search community has one more big reason to celebrate — It's all for a couple of worthy causes!

ALL PROFITS from the 2015 awards entry fees, event sponsorships and awards ceremony tickets sold* will go to two designated non-profit organizations. The search community has donated more than $60,000 to worthy causes in the last several years at our SMX After Dark events.

All awards entrants can designate which of the two charities the proceeds of their entry fee will benefit, or they may choose to split their donation evenly between the two. In addition, all event ticket buyers will also have the option to designate their charity of choice.

Third Door Media, publisher of Search Engine Land, producer of The Landy Awards and SMX, guarantees a minimum of $5,000 will be donated.

BeTheMatch.org — The Power Of One. The Power Of Many.

For the thousands of people diagnosed every year with life-threatening blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma, a cure exists. Over the past 25 years, Be The Match®, operated by the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP), has managed the largest and most diverse marrow registry in the world.BeTheMatch_blue-green_CMYK300

The awards program will generate funds and awareness for this organization, and we invite readers to learn more about joining the marrow registry online.

CODE.org

Today's computer science student could be the next search marketing superstar. Backed by a number of big-name Silicon Valley supporters such as Google, Microsoft, Facebook and others, this group was a natural fit.

We selected this STEM-based organization based on a number of ways the search marketing community could get involved beyond a financial gift.

Rob Garner, author of "Search and Social" (Wiley 2013) and professor of social media marketing at the University of Dallas, shares his take on the impact of selecting this organization as one of the beneficiaries:

"I am a huge supporter of Code.org, and very pleased that they have been chosen as one of the non-profits supported by the inaugural Landy Awards event. Code.org reaches people in all walks of life to help them discover the power and opportunity of teaching people how to code, and the many economic and societal benefits that this skill brings."
