3 Tips to Amplify Your PPC Marketing

ppc marketing

Pay-per-click advertising is just one aspect of the wide range of digital marketing tools available to you, but—in the right hands—it can certainly be one of the most powerful. Unfortunately, PPC marketing can also be one of the most expensive, especially if you make costly mistakes that impact your return on investment.

Because PPC is such a powerful tool, many want to jump right in and reap the benefits right away. Google makes starting an AdWords account super easy, which might lead users to believe that creating campaigns will be easy, too. Before you attempt pay-per-click advertising, there are a few things you should know.

The Bidding Process

Ensuring that your company shows up in Google searches requires knowledge of search engine optimization. Remember: your competitors already have AdWords accounts and have been bidding on the keywords associated with your business. If you want to beat them in the bidding war, you have to be thorough. Otherwise, you'll end up paying top dollar for some keywords when others could bring similar results at a much lower price.

First, consider any trademarked words and phrases, as well as any other terms you've branded. You're less likely to experience competition for these terms, but you'll only receive traffic from searchers who are already familiar with your brand.

Next, consider industry-related terms. These are the words and phrases that you'll compete the most for, so be creative. Long-tail searches are less likely to be bid on by competitors, and they're also more likely to bring you buyers who are ready to convert. For instance, if you sell shoes, and someone searches for "red patent leather pumps," that buyer already knows exactly what she's looking for and probably has her credit card at the ready for when she finds what she needs.

Finally, bid on competitor keywords. This is where you're likely to find some customers who weren't already familiar with your brand, and then you can win them over with your unique selling proposition. This is a trickier process, so wait until you're more familiar with PPC before you attempt it.

Investigate Sitelinks

You can set your PPC ads apart from competitors with this tool, which is just an easy-to-add extension for Google AdWords. This is a cost-efficient way to clarify and narrow down your ads for anyone who's searching for the products you sell.

Let's take a look at the red shoes search from earlier. A query through Google for "women's red shoes" brings back two ads. The first, from ModCloth, shows four additional links at the bottom, giving the searcher the chance to further refine the search.

sitelinks example

This is Sitelinks at work.

A/B Test Your Campaigns

Not even the most seasoned PPC marketing experts can predict exactly what will catch a buyer's eye. What works with one campaign could achieve dismal results with the next. This is because buyers' needs change, and so do the trends.

To always get the best possible results, create two versions of your campaign. They should be identical except for one piece, such as the headline. Run those two ads at the same time for two weeks, and then examine which had better results. If headline B worked better, then use that headline and then change something else, such as the image used or the copy in the body of the ad.

You'll never achieve perfections because, as we said earlier, buyers' needs are always changing. What you can do is ensure that you're always presenting the best possible option at that time to your buyers.

Consumers Trust Search Engines Over Friends, Brands When It Comes To Finding New Products

Approximately 80 percent of US internet users prefer to turn to a search engine to find or look up information about local businesses, according to research from the Local Search Association cited in a recent eMarketer report — meaning that the changes brought on by the rise of intelligent search have major implications for local SMBs.

Local businesses have always lived and died by discovery; if they can't drive foot traffic from within their community, they won't survive. But, with a significant majority of consumers turning to search engines to discover the world around them — rather than friends, family, or business websites directly — showing up when people make "near me" searches matters more than ever.

Additionally, for every online purchase resulting from a search, Google sees multi-channel retailers receive an additional 400 in-store visits — a statistic that reinforces how crucial search is to brick-and-mortar businesses of all stripes.

Searching 'Smarter'

Nowadays, when people search for a restaurant nearby or a local car dealership, they don't simply see a list of blue links; rather, today, "search is intelligent — and when you search for things, you get direct, structured answers," explained Howard Lerman, CEO at Yext (full disclosure: Yext is GeoMarketing's parent company. More details on that relationship here), in a Retail Week Live session in March.

Essentially, if a consumer searches for "new car," they don't simply see links — they see the knowledge card, with prices, configurations, features of cars for sale, and more, all seamlessly. Similarly, if someone Googles groceries or banks, they get maps back; Google now assumes someone is looking for a place if they search for something present in the physical world.

This means that local SMBs need to think about how people search, taking into account "unbranded" moments and searches that drive visits. For example, it's not enough to show up in a search for "Tesco;" a supermarket needs to show up if a consumer makes a search for "groceries." And that holds true not only for "traditional" text-based searches, but for the increased number of voice searches customers are making as well.

As iProspect's Steve Beatty told GeoMarketing earlier this year, "[voice search] impacts local because once you've made that touch point, then you're going to be able to connect with that person on the next level," iProspect's Steve Beatty told GeoMarketing earlier this month. "[That level] is, 'Okay you've answered my question. Now maybe there's more a transactional purpose I have with you because you helped me on the informational side.' That leads into, 'Okay, well where are local stores near me?' One of the biggest things that I think you're going to see in a shift in the marketplace is away from keywords and the new keyword is going to be proximity."

Internet Marketing Grey Area and a lot of Black and White Hats

Internet Marketing Grey Area and a lot of Black and White Hats

It is the age old battle. There are the forces of good struggle to wage war on the forces of evil. The good will only do what is honorable, just and honest in order to win. All the while the evil forces are willing to do whatever it takes, regardless of consequences, honesty or morality.

But is this really true when it comes to internet marketing? Are all white hat techniques good for you? Are all black hat techniques bad for you?

We all know the stereotypical good guys versus the bad guys. The good guy is always supposed to win, right? Unfortunately that truly only happens in the movies.

Lately I have been seeing a lot more products coming to market that may be considered black hat material. The concern is no longer as clear as black or white, but is now considerable much more of a grey area to even some long time marketers.

The truth of the matter is that not all black techniques were in fact always considered to be bad. Not to mention, no one really knows exactly what level of "black" can be a problem for you or your websites.

How many people can honestly say they have "never" entered one too many keywords into their website? Exactly how many is one too many? One, ten, or maybe fifty keywords? Who told you how many you can or cannot have listed? Did some search engine officially tell you that "you have too many keywords" or did they simply pull your site? The problem is they leave it up to you to "guess".

To take this a step further, how come it seems that all of the black hat techniques work much better then white hat techniques? Well, because many of them simply are better at earning you money. However, the people who determine if a technique is considered to be black hat are the ones who are also the ones who make the most money, Yep Search engines.

Now, here lies the problem. If I make $ 100, and you "steal" $ 50 from me, I will get mad. But if I make $ 100, and you only "earn" $ 25, I will be happy. See that's because I kept more profit. See nobody likes to pay out more then they have to. After all we are all in the business of making money.

Maybe you have been around for a while, decided that you could come up with your very own techniques for "beating the system". But, see the search engines take their cue from Vegas. In Vegas card counting happens all the time. It is not truly considered illegal, IF, and only IF you can do it in your head. You cannot use any tools to help you. However it will get you banned and blacklisted at just about ever casino worldwide. Heck, no one likes a cheat, even if you're not cheating. But you see, the house makes the rules. Rule number one is that you are not supposed to have an advantage over the house,

It was not until the casinos realized that people could get the odds in their favor that this became considered a "black" practice. Even though only a few people could do it, they frowned upon it so heavily that it became unwritten law.

Now think of your favorite big brother search engine as a "granddaddy internet casino". If you do stuff that will piss them off, then you will likely get yourself pulled from the rankings. Your sites could go from generating thousands per day to non-existence in a day. Losing your income that quickly is too much like working a real job if you ask me. When you develop new tactics of winning at the Internet Marketing / Search engine Game, then you had better keep in mind that they may not like your methods.

It is not up to me to tell you one way or the other which techniques to use for promoting your website. You can pick and choose what tactics work best for you. Are there some that will get you banned, yes. Are there some that might get you banned, yes. Are there a few that are "black" that no one even things twice about using, Yes.

Take the time to learn whi ch ones are which. Study what the white hat techniques are, and what the black ones are. Make an informed decision on how important your business is, and what any long term effects might be to any tactic you choose to use. Like any coin, you cannot have one side without the other. The coin itself is not good or bad, but how it is used determines the outcome.

Online Marketing Firm, fishbat, Shares 4 Things that Electrical Inspection Testing Companies Should Avoid When Posting Videos

  June 05, 2017 --

PATCHOGUE, N.Y., June 5, 2017 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- fishbat, a leading Internet marketing company which combines proven digital marketing strategies that include search engine optimization (SEO), digital ads, and social media optimization (SMO) to help businesses increase profits and expand brand awareness, shares four things that IR testing companies should avoid when posting videos.

Posting videos on social media is a great way for service-centric businesses to engage potential customers. Online videos help to establish brand authority in the industry, increase audience reach, and provide value to the public through education. However, to be successful, video posting needs to comply with some basic rules for success. Videos should be optimized to increase SEO and audience reach, they should pull viewers in with catchy and descriptive titles, and they should appear professional by ensuring that the content was adequately prepared. Online marketing firm, fishbat, shares four things that IR testing companies, like PDS Heat-Seeker, should avoid when posting videos.

  • Failure to optimize videos for SEO. Not optimizing a video is like planning a party but forgetting to invite anyone. Videos have the potential to engage viewers and to be shared across social platforms. They are also found through search engine queries. SEO video optimization includes keyword placement in titles and descriptions, including succinct and specific descriptions, and establishing quality backlinks to drive traffic. Posting videos without titles, descriptions, keyword placement, or backlinks, significantly decreases the video's ability to drive traffic, get socially shared, or to be found through search engines.
  • Being unprepared when filming. Videos and any content being disseminated on social media is a representation of the brand. Shaky video, unprepared dialogue and other signifiers of being unprepared can have a detrimental impact on a brand's social reputation. Take some time to prepare dialogue, ensure quality videos through the use of appropriate equipment, and to eliminate any visual or audible distractions.
  • Not providing specific and compelling titles or descriptions. Titles are the biggest way to call attention to videos. Utilizing targeted keywords in titles helps service businesses such as electrical inspection testing companies to pull in target audience views, to meet business goals, and have a positive impact on SEO. Descriptions also attract targeted viewer attention, encourage social sharing, and improve SEO. The text within titles and descriptions help web crawlers to index content for search engines and identify user value, increasing search engine ranking.
  • Neglecting to drive traffic through multiple online sources. Videos should be included on IR testing company websites and should be made to be easily shared on social media platforms. Videos can provide an SEO boost and prompt audience sharing by including titles and descriptions that contain keywords as well as verbiage that will command viewer attention and denote value. Videos should also be shared on multiple social media platforms to increase viewership, improve the probability of social sharing, to establish industry authority, and to leverage the power of social platforms that have proven success with video views and shares, such as YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn. This increases the audience-base significantly and greatly improves the videos ability to achieve wide-spread social sharing.
  • Long Island SEO company fishbat is a full-service digital marketing firm and social media agency dedicated to connecting all types of businesses with their target audiences in the most effective and efficient way. Through innovative strategies in social media management, search engine optimization (SEO), branding, web design, reputation management and public relations, fishbat promotes a consistent and professional online voice for all of its clients.
