Every business needs a website. Having one doesn't do much good, however, if prospective customers can't find it. To make sure they do, you need to infuse your online content with keywords to improve your search engine rankings, according to Entrepreneur.com contributor Aaron Agius."Organic SEO continues to be a major access channel connecting people with content, and social media platforms are becoming increasingly adept at mining keyword data as well," Agius says. "That's why, today, the best content marketing campaigns are keyword-driven."
Although search engine optimization is a complicated science, the basic idea is simple: When you write articles, blog posts, and social media updates that includes search terms in them, your website will appear higher up in search engine results.
The key to this strategy is choosing the right search terms, or keywords. To do this, Agius recommends using Google's free keyword tool.
"You probably already have a good idea of th e relevant topics you need to cover for your content marketing campaign. The next step is finding the right keywords to go along with it, which in turn can help you discover even more relevant topics to cover," Agius says. "This is easy enough to do with Google Adwords Keyword Planner. It allows you to find relevant keywords and gives valuable information about their popularity over time."
