Google invited more than 100 businesses from across the state to a seminar on enhancing online presence April 11 at Pique Travel Design in Excelsior.
The seminar is part of the company's "Let's Put Our Cities on the Map" program designed to empower communities to support local businesses and encourage them to get online where the majority of consumers are going to find goods and services. Google is partnering with StartLogic to provide its website offerings for free, including an easy-to-build website, a customized domain name, search optimization methods and web-hosting for one year.
"This is a great turnout," said District 3 Congressman Erik Paulsen (GOP-Eden Prairie). "The fact that you're all here will not only help drive Minnesota sales, but also our exports […] we want to make sure we're high on the map."
Michael Johnson of the Minnetonka-based Adapta Interactive attended the seminar to enhance the company's web skills.
Founded in 2006, Adapta Interactive provides online virtual tours for various businesses including hotels, retail stores, event centers, senior centers and others.
